Boredom can lead to your most brilliant ideas!
Boredom is often treated like a problem to be fixed, but it is actually a quiet doorway to creativity. In those unremarkable moments, walking without a destination, washing dishes with nothing to distract you, the mind drifts into the brain’s default mode network, where imagination, problem-solving, and big-picture thinking come alive. Yet our phones rescue us from every pause, filling the silence with endless scrolling and notifications that block this reflective state where

Coca-Cola didn’t just boost winter sales, it reshaped Christmas
In the 1930s, the company transformed Santa Claus from a loosely defined, often inconsistent character into the warm, red-suited, rosy-cheeked figure we recognise today. Through Haddon Sundblom’s iconic Coca-Cola ads, Santa became jolly, human, approachable, and unmistakably dressed in Coca-Cola red. What began as a clever marketing move to sell a summer drink in winter ended up defining the modern image of Santa Claus for generations.

Brand Hijacking
Killing time in Addis Ababa airport before catching my connecting flight to London. I just stumbled upon a glorious act of cultural remixing — brand hijacking at its finest! A café called Starbex Coffee, green mermaid and all, serving macchiatos with local swagger. Global imitation meets Ethiopian flair — caffeine diplomacy in action. It’s a tiny café tucked between the duty-free and the souvenir stalls, proudly calling itself “Starbex Coffee”, complete with a green mermaid

So you want to be a graphic designer?
All design starts with a creative thought... Design surrounds us — in the products we use, the spaces we inhabit, the digital interfaces we interact with, and even the clothes we wear. While design often presents itself in tangible, structured forms, at its very core, it begins with something intangible and abstract: a creative thought. This initial spark of imagination is the foundation upon which all design is built, and without it, even the most advanced tools or methods c

The Century of the Self
From Needs to Desires... The Evolution of Mass Consumer Persuasion. What truly motivates the human mind? One of the most powerful answers lies in how to appeal effectively to the masses. Today, our consumer culture is driven less by necessity and more by psychological manipulation. We live in a world where people routinely buy products with money they don’t have, for items they don’t need, to impress people they don’t even know. Much of this transformation began with Edward B

Neville Brody Design
A great influence in my graphic design career and one of the most prominent examples of Russian influence in 1980's graphic design was the work of Neville Brody, designer and art director of The Face magazine. And to this day Brody continues to borrow from the 1930’s Bauhaus School and Russian Constructivist layouts using stark angles, asymmetry and type as image. His typographic treatments echo Rodchenko’s visual experiments and Lissitzky’s spatial dynamics. Brody’s work isn

What is branding?
What is branding? A brand is not a logo. A brand is not a product. A brand is not a promise. A brand is not the sum of all the impressions it makes on an audience. A brand is a result–it's a person's gut feeling about a product, service or company. It's in their heads and in their hearts. A brand is your reputation.
